Lafayette Carpet Cleaning offers ScotchGuard brand fabric protection for your rugs, residential or commercial carpet, and automobile carpet and matting.
Here is what ScotchGuard does for you…..
When your carpet is first installed in your home or business new, fresh from the factory it already has a protectorant on it similar to ScotchGuard if not ScotchGuard itself. This forms a clear protective almost plastic layer on each individual fiber and is why new carpet has a sheen to it.
As traffic and dirt come in the actual dirt especially gritty particles like sand wear against this protective layer eventually rubbing it off and then proceeds to wear out the actual fiber itself causing traffic lane wear. Typically seen around beds, in front of couches and chairs, and in doorways. Once this happens the damage is done, but you can still reapply Scotchguard to prevent further wear.
Scotchguard also helps greatly in protecting against all other stains as well simply because it is literally covering each and every fiber in a sheath thereby not allowing it to soak in. We recommend reapplying it after every steam cleaning unless the fibers are already too worn out and you just want it sanitized.
Will ScotchGuard cause my carpet to stiffen? No. Using Scotchguard™ Carpet & Rug Protector does not change the look or feel of carpet. Occasionally, slight over-application of product or accelerated drying (with fans or heat) may cause treated articles to stiffen. Simply vacuum the affected areas and the carpet will feel normal again.
How long does it take to dry? Under average room temperature conditions (70°F, 50% Humidity), most objects should dry overnight. Always be sure to check before resuming normal traffic in the treated areas. Longer dry times could occur under the following conditions: colder temperatures, more humid conditions, or heavy applications. Providing for proper ventilation for the product will also provide a quicker dry time in most conditions.
How often should I reapply? We recommend periodic cleaning at least once a year with a and reapplying Scotchguard™ Brand Protector after each instance.
